Paws for thought’s Weblog

I’ve got two dogs, Scrumpy, a Jack Russell, and Massey, a German Short Haired Pointer.  Scrumpy’s been with us for 13 years while Massey joined the household just over four and half years ago when we rescued him as a 7 month old “pup.”  They’re like chalk and cheese: Scrumpy is a typical terrier who thinks he’s a big dog and doesn’t realise that he’s in a small body and Massey must be the only Pointer with terrier tendancies! 

I’m the one who has the pleasure of walking them, along with the Husband - the pleasure is questionable when its pouring down with rain, and blowing a gale.  But I wouldn’t give it up for the world – it helps me keep sane in this mad world, helping me keep in tune with nature, and reminding me of my place.  I’m the one on the morning shift, walking them before work, Husband does the afternoons, and from late Spring to early Autumn we both do the evenings.

We’re lucky to live near the South Downs in Southern England with the beach only minutes away.  This gives us a huge variety of walks: woods, fields, marshy spaces and beaches - in other words we’re spoilt for choice.
